
Since April 2008, we have been selling gluten-free products in our three stores in the northwest suburbs of Chicago: Deerfield, Buffalo Grove and Schaumburg. We bake our gluten-free products in Schaumburg, where we have a dedicated oven (only GF products are baked in Schaumburg). There is no wheat, barley or rye flours stored on the premises.
Web site Upgrades. We're in the midst of upgrading our web site and shopping cart so that we can offer more shippping options (overnight, 2-day, 3-day, ground), gift message and an easier shopping experience. We have some great UPS rates that we plan to pass along to our online shoppers.
Breads. In-store we offer Rice Bran Artisan Rolls (3-pack, $4.95, 15 oz) and Mini Baguettes (2-pack, 10 oz, $3.95). They are also dairy-free. We receive great reviews on our bread products and plan to offer them online with 2-day shipment only (to guarantee quality). You'll need to freeze them upon arrival and then refresh them in the oven according to the instructions on the reverse side of the package. Refreshing them brings the rolls and baguettes back to their oven-baked freshness. Many customers use the microwave and a wet paper towel and like the results as well. These are not bread products to leave out on the counter, but the freezer is truly our breads' best friend.
Pizza Dough. After eating a lot of pizza, we have perfected our frozen pizza dough. We are working on packaging and will launch this product soon. We have yet to test shipping of this product for qualiy purposes, so stay tuned. Our 10" pizza dough crusts are parbaked and frozen. You just add your toppings to the frozen crust and bake at 375 for 18-20 minutes depending on toppings. The pizza dough is also dairy free.
Cookies: In the continual pursuit to make great cookies, we are adding and subtracting varieties. If you notice that one of your favorites disappeared, let us know. You could be our next cookie taste tester.
Our chocolate chip cookies (Lotsa Chips and Triple Chips) are, not surprisingly, our most popular -- who doesn't love a chocolate chip cookie? So why mess with success, we thought, and created a holiday cookie with the festive combination of dried cranberries, walnuts and white chocolate chips using the same quinoa cookie base used in our chips cookies. We call it Holiday Express and are selling it in a 14-pack of 1 ounce cookies for $12.95, a great holiday gift. True story: Head baker, Stacey, brought home a test batch of these cookies. Her two kids, ages 2 and 4, forgo Oreos (they eat wheat) in favor of gluten-free cookies!
With our new web site, we'll also be adding a certified gluten-free Oats 'n Raisin cookie.
